Q. I can't get the detergent to work.

If you can't get the chemical to work the most common reason for this is that you are unaware of the function of the valve on the end of the lance. Placing the thin see through tube with the filter on the end into a container of detergent is only the preperation stage. You turn the Chemical 'On' and 'Off' at the lance.

If your lance looks like this

 This is what to do
Push the black sleave forward (away from you). This drops the pressure and automatically draws in the chemical, mixes it with the water and sprays it out of the lance end. To rinse, release the trigger gun and pull the end of the lance back towards you.
Twist the end of the lance anti-clockwise slowly (as you look down the lance from the trigger gun end). until the detergent starts coming through, don't fully loosen the end nut or the power of the spray will be lost. To rinse, release the trigger gun and tighten the end by turning clockwise. Do not over tighten!

If this doesn't sort out your problem it could be because you are using an extension high pressure hose. If you need to do this try to use a 3/8" bore hose. If this is not the case the non-return valve in the barb may be stuck, call your supplier or us for info on how to fix this.

Q. There is water in the gauge / there is a large bubble in the gauge, is this ok?

Yes there should be liquid in the gauge.
It is glycerene and it is there to stop the needle from vibrating.
The bubble is there because the gauges are not completely
filled to allow for expansion etc.

Q. What oil goes in the pump?

BEWARE, many machine have a sealed oil bath and must not be over filled.
Always just cover the sight glass with the machine in its horizontal position (where applicable) or fill to between the Max and Minimum marks on the oil bottle or dip stick where appropriate to the machine.

Instructions and Oil type

Q. Why does my machine blow fuses?

If your machine sometimes blows a fuse when you turn it on, then you're probably not squeezing the trigger gun as you switch the power on. This is not a fault, directions on how to connect your pressure washer to a suitable water and electrical supply and switch it on are in your handbook.

If the machine blows a fuse when you let go of the trigger gun during normal use then check to see that the pressure gauge drops to zero when you let go of the trigger gun. It is likely that the pressure is rising. If this is so, switch off the machine and service the Unloader mechanism - this is easy to do. Download the instructions here XXXX XXXX or veiw on line here xxxx xxxx

If your pressure washer switches itself off a while you are using it (without blowing the fuse) then you are probably using an inadequate extension cable or the power supply to your machine is low. If this is not the case then you may be overloading the motor by using a lance with a nozzle size that is too small for the pump or is partially blocked by dirt (check the pressure gauge whilst spraying). The reason the machine switches itself off is because the switch has detected that the motor is drawing too many amps and is overheating. If the switch trips too many times it will need replacing as the mechanism weakens each time it overheats and turns off the motor. Important, fix the problem or you may burn out the motor!

Q. If I leave my machine running while I'm not using it after a little while the pump seems
to make a "Vrump" type noise. Why does it do this?

If you hear a "Vrump" and notice the gauge preasure shoot up and back down again then the pump is kicking back in to re-pressurize the high pressure hose - somewhere you have a leak, possibly one of the O rings that seal the connections of the hose, maybe through the trigger gun, back down the detergent pick up pipe or possibly from the unloader stem. Try to establish where the leak is and replace the appropriate seal.
